The Senior Cisco Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and administering computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary. The engineer will be working closely with users of our network in order to identify potential issues and resolve existing problems.
To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. You will also need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices, including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 5 years of hands-on experience supporting large enterprise Cisco networks with design and administration.
Experience should include Cisco 3xxx/4xxx/ASR/ISR routers, Nexus 4K/7K, 45xx/38xx/93xx switches, ASA firewalls, IPS.
Degree or certifications in related field a plus (CCNP, CCISP, CCIE, etc).
Strong understanding of network concepts and routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF), MPLS, VPLS, VoIP, QoS/CoS, S2S VPN, and security/compliance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Excellent written and communication skills for a technical and non-technical audience.
Late night work for network changes on a regular basis.
Work with global engineering and desktop teams to support the enterprise.
Utilize ticketing systems to complete work and follow proper change management procedures.
Design, installation, management, security, and documentation of multi-site Cisco networks.
Determination and recommendation of hardware and software requirements to support the enterprise.
Troubleshooting and resolution of hardware and software issues associated with LAN/WAN networks and servers.
Effective use of monitoring applications and equipment, from Cisco based core switches to power management and backup systems.
Participation, including assuming the role of overall IT point of contact with clients on conference calls and face-to-face meetings.
Act as escalation point with occasional 24/7 on-call support for major outages and client support.
Ensure all members of team are in line with proper escalation procedures as well as coordination with engineering teams at headquarters.
Medium physical work required at times, exertion of up to 40 pounds.
Minimal travel up to 10%.
